Here are my 2 scenario, of how we can pull this $1M race off.
ONE TRACK located in Texas, to host the qualifying and the event.
Starting on the 1st of January (of the year we decide to do this), to the race date we hold the race, the first 2014 racers that pay $993.00, are entered.
As you are entered, you receive an entry number ( # 1 )
The next person to fully pay $993 is entry #2, Etc, Etc.
All the way to 2014 entrees. $2,001,916 Total Prize Purse.
A website page ( probably this one ) will be dedicated to these entrees and where it all stands, updated regularly ( at least weekly ). E-mails also will be sent out to participants keeping them up to date. You will be able to pay on this each month if you like. I will have a link through PAYPAL, wich will allow you to make payments, and I will keep up with everyones payments, and credit you along the way.
The 2014 entrees will be grouped in 287 racers. There would be 7 groups. ( 287 x 7 = 2014 )
The racers would be grouped by the distance they have to travel, to the event hosting track. See the map below.
The group closest to the event racetrack would be group 1. Starting on a SATURDAY, These GROUP 1 - (287 racers) would get 2 qualifying passes, and then begin eliminations. There would be ONE first round buy back ( $250 ). They would race against each other in open competition until there are only 30 racers left. The final 30 racers, would be entered in the Million Dollar Race, which would be held on the SUNDAY at the end of the same week.
EVERYONE in group 1 would leave the track. ( They ALL would go home, ) Sunday is group 2, from the map. Monday is group 3, from the map. Tuesday is group 4, from the map. Wednesday is group 5, from the map. Thursday is group 6, from the map. Friday is group 7. from the map. Saturday is NO RACING, but allows ALL the ( 30 ) finalist a day to return to the event track. The farthest away group ON THE MAP is last to qualify, so that those "winners" can stay overnight or have to stay the least number of nights ( or drive the least ) to attend the final day race, which will be SUNDAY. There would be 210 racers competing for the MILLION DOLLARS.
In any case, ALL RACERS would have to leave the facility ( WIN OR LOOSE ) each night, because the next day 287 more racers from a different group, will be coming in to the facility. The only exception to this would be the racers who "qualify" on the last group day ( FRIDAY ). The losers of that Friday group would need to pull their rigs OUT of the race track area, and make room for the "entered group of the previous 6 qualifying days" racers and their rigs from the previous day(s) "30 race finalist x 6 previous days".
I know spectators and NON qualifying racers will want to stay and see who wins, but they will just have to be parked OUTSIDE the racetrack area.
BUY BACKS - ONE, first round only, each qualifying day @ $250
All buy back racers will race each other, and, the winners will continue on to 2nd round
At 100%, buy back, 143 racers will pay in $35,750 X 7 days = $250,250.
As people loose first round, ( each day ) buy backs MUST take place expeditiously,
So we can proceed to "2nd" round.
We have round 2 where 215 cars start, 107 and a bye remain.
107 losers will be out. They are done.
Round 3 has 107 cars and a bye start.
53 losers will be out. They are done.
Round 4 has 53 cars, and a bye start.
25 losers go home. They are done.
The 26 remaining cars ( PLUS the 4 previous bye run racers ) will wait until Sunday of that week, until the Race Finals Day. ANY racer who got a bye run, and happen to loose, before the final 26 cars, you will be automatically allowed to be in the last 30 cars that make up the final 30.
SUNDAY will be another group (2) of 287
MONDAY will be another group (3) of 287
TUESDAY another group (4) of 287
WEDNESDAY another group (5) of 287
THURSDAY another group (6) of 287
FRIDAY another group (7) of 287
SATURDAY - NO RACING, only travel for the previous qualifiers, to the event track.
Sunday is the FINALS.
This will leave 210 racers who survived "their group" racing day. These racers have just won $1,000 (ALL the bye back money, from EACH day, split evenly between the finalist )
On SUNDAY, we have the final eliminations. ALL 30 from each group day returns. As each tech card is issued on the final race day, each racer will receive their $1,000.
There will be 210 competitors on this SUNDAY.
PAY OUT OF PRIZE MONEY
$1,000,000 in the payout "purse" for ONE WINNER, NO SPLITTING!!
$1,000,000 in the "purse" for expenses, and the remainder for the racers.
I would have to pay the racetrack for rental and staff, and expenses to hold the event.
EXAMPLE: 1. if each day to rent the track was $4,000 X 8 days rental = $32,000.
2. if I had to spend $50,000 to promote this event, flyers, printing, etc.
this $82,000 would need to come directly out of the 2nd $1M .
THIS now leaves $918,000 in the payout purse for the racers.
After 2 time trial rounds we start racing. NO MORE BYE BACKS !!
Round one - 210 cars ( 105 losers ) get $1,000 ( $105,000 )
$918,000 - $105,000 = $813,000 in the payout "purse "
Round two - 104 cars and a bye (52 losers ) get $3,000 ($156,000)
$813,000 - $156,000 = $657,000 in the payout "purse "
Round three - 52 cars and a bye (26 losers) get $5,000 ($130,000)
$657,000 - $130,000 = $527,000 in the payout "purse "
Round four - 26 and a bye ( 13 losers ) get $10,000 ($130,000)
$527,000 - $130,000 = $397,000 in the payout "purse "
Round five - 13 and a bye ( 6 losers ) get $20,000 ($120,000)
$397,000 - $120,000 = $277,000 in the payout "purse "
Round six - 7 cars left, SPLIT TALK could begin and all 7 get $39,500 and
continue running until the final winner for the $1M !!
$277,000 divided by 7 racers is $ 39,500.
The WINNER and EVERYONE ELSE are responsible for their own tax. I will have to
( and most likely will ) submit W-9's for anyone who gets paid $$.
Sorry. It's the Law. SSN will be on ALL tech cards.
SPLITTING THE POT RULE
If I issue a 'CHECK" for all winnings , I can split up the pot.
If I pay out CASH, I won't have time to split up all that money in the end.
Speaking of checks. Buybacks, MUST BE CASH. ( $250 ) NO CREDIT CARDS , NO CHECKS ( I don't want to run to the bank depositing checks, hoping that they clear.
Credit cards "cost us" and the cash wouldn't be in the "purse "
No Exceptions to these rules !
8 TRACKS...... A race in each group of the USA to qualify for the Million Dollar Payout Race.
I will travel to and rent a track from a desiginated "group" and hold the qualifying races, and get down to the last 30 qualifying racers.
Once ALL the finalist are determined in each group, I will select a racetrack in the MIDDLE OF THE USA, to hold the finals.
At this point we would return to the race schedule and scenairo above.
